Our grants provide teachers, librarians, and other educators with resources to develop innovative projects, programs and initiatives.

We have funded unique music programs, a robotics initiative, presentations by visiting educators, student performances and much more.

Groton, New London and Ledyard students learned sailing and leadership skills aboard the tall ship Oliver Hazard Perry, thanks in part to a grant from the GEF.

Who can apply?

An educator from any school, agency or nonprofit that provides educational programming to Groton residents can apply for a grant. We have approved grants for schools (public and private), museums, libraries and other organizations. We don't award grants to for-profit organizations.

Each year the Foundation looks to build on past successes, continuing and expanding some projects while providing startup funding for others.

Eligible projects

Proposals must be for new or innovative ideas. Requests for supplies or services (such as books, iPads or transportation) without a programming component are not considered. We will not fund programs that should be included in an organization's regular operating budget.

Wondering if your project might qualify? See examples of initiatives we've funded at Groton Public Schools.
